A philosopher or a mathematician?

Updated: Aug 26, 2023

Have you ever asked yourself why in the past great mathematicians were actually also exceptional philosophers, physicists, literary men? What is the fil rouge? What is the common denominator? Why some people exhibit the habit of abstract thinking more than others and what is actually the benefit of this sort of contamination (technical term for blend used in literature, art and linguistics) between subjects? Is it bad or good? Can be helpful to our discipline? If yes, in which sense? Or should we rather confine ourselves to a defined category? Huge topic, das Denken.

I will let you calmly navigate these questions with your cup of coffee at hand, I imagine. Meanwhile ...

Time has come to share with you some aphorisms I have written down during these years, in the hope they will touch you somehow.

Remember to cite me properly, in case you want to make use of them.

Thank you!

The style is different when it is a logician who makes it. A fact of life.
The day will come when we will teach categorical analysis instead of calculus.
Never read this kind of maths without a Moka at hand.
Si nous avons un Poset, nous avons une logique et si on a une logique, il y a une structure.
Life looks differently on ten centimeters high heels.
Never listen to the words of the man who loves your same car, but cannot have it. He lies.
